Tomorrow is the day

Well, tomorrow is the day. Hopefully I get the U-haul truck I reserved and I can move in one trip. Saturday will be all day cleaning on the apartment. I will be staying at my sister's Friday night so I don't have to drive all the way back to Queen Creek. She might be having Poker Night that night, but we'll see. After this weekend, I should be completely done with Phoenix. All of the kids appointments are done out there. The only reason to go back is for family get togethers/holidays. The only real friend I have in that city I can't see because he is with a psycho. He at least calls once a month.

My oldest was seen last week for an eye exam. It is apparant that he will now be wearing glasses and we will probably get them within the next week. Tonight is meet the teacher night for the boys new school. Aug 22nd I take my 3 yr old daughter to the district to get tested if she can go to pre-school for whatever they call it. My two boys went to preschool early because of speech and they are good now, so we are trying the daughter. If she gets accepted, she will go to a different school than the boys because they don't offer preschool at their school. The good thing is the schools are only like a mile apart.

This weekend after I finish moving, I am going to try and at least rent HAROLD AND KUMAR: ESCAPE FROM GUANTANOMO BAY. It looks pretty good and the first movie was hillarious. We'll see what else is out at that time. Didn't really do much last night except watch COPS, CSI:NY, and another crime show before that. Can't remember the name of it.

Well, that wraps it up for today.

Hump Day

I remember when I was a kid, "hump" had a whole different meaning. Last night I watched the two movies I had. The first was MARTIAN CHILD. It stars John Cusack, Joan Cusack, and Amanda Peet. It was actually a heart felt movie about a child trying to fit in.

The next movie was OVER HER DEAD BODY starring Eva Longoria. It's the movie where she dies on her wedding day and haunts his next girlfriend. A lot of funny parts in the movie. This is a good one to watch.

Can't wait to get paid Friday. Have to finish the move on Friday, clean the apartment Saturday and turn in the keys and I am done with the back and forth. I am looking at getting furniture for the house right now, but may have to wait another month until I come in to some money before I can make those purchases. I wonder if Rent A Center is any good. I would rather pay in full instead of payments because they get you on interest and late payments. I can't wait until I am caught up on everything.

I have been bouncing around at times actually reading other peoples blogs that I don't know and some seem funny. Maybe someday I can learn more on how to do this whole blog thing and be able to add blogs on my screen for other people to read. Of course, I am pretty sure there are only 2 people that actually read this minus the occassional 'oops, how did I get here?'

Well, let's see how tomorrow goes.

U-haul sucks

So here is the story. Last Monday, I reserved a trailer, enclosed, 10ft from U-haul that was within 3 miles of where I was moving from. I reserved it for Saturday. They told me not a problem, they had 5 or 6 of them. Friday, I get a call from a U-haul about 15 miles from where I am moving from saying I have to pick it up at their location. Ok, whatever. I go there Saturday morning, pay for it and the ball connection and everything and they tell me to go check it out for dents and scratches. Needless to say when I went out to look, I was baffled. These yahoos were giving me a flat open trailer. I told them I am moving from an apartment to a house and this would not work. They then told me they didn't have any enclosed trailer. So I drive to the one that I made the original reservation. They told me that most people get those trailers for one-way. That's what I reserved it for. He then proceeded to tell me there were none in the valley--yeah, right, try to cover your ass and make me spend more for a truck. Needless to say, I caused a scene, threw in the whole 'I need to be out this weekend' and 'I am in the military' bit. So I scheduled for a 14' truck for Friday this week and he gave me additional mileage at no cost and also lowered the rental by about $100. Which isn't bad as I left the place there was a sign that said reservation guaranteed or you get $50. Didn't want to press my luck.

I have 2 movies at home right now. MARTIAN CHILD with John and Joan Cusack. I plan on watching that one tonight. I forget the other one, but I may watch it tonight as well.

Most of my weekend was spent going through crap at the apartment. I still had stuff in boxes from when we moved out of our last house while I was deployed and stuff I had in storage. So, it was kind of useful as we consolidated and threw crap out. Going through that stuff it was like, why do we still have this? I mean old phones, printers, kids school papers that are outdated, trash and crap. Probably threw out 7-8 big boxes of useless crap. Including about 50-60 VHS tapes. I have them all on DVD now anyways and a lot of them were either cracked and busted or the tape from inside had been messed with by the children. My next biggest task is getting furniture for the house and finally get settled in. We have been sleeping on the floor for the last week and a half and it looks like I won't even be able to get a bed until about early September. It will be a posturepedic bed so I guess it will be worth it by then.

Well, that be it for now.

FRIDAY Does Cometh

Finally Friday, which seems I hardly worked anyways this week. Had to take my oldest son to the dentist on Tuesday, so I worked a few hours. Yesterday I was only in for an hour since I had to take my oldest son to the eye doctor for an eye exam. Which he will be wearing glasses now.

The other night I watched RESERVATION ROAD with Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Ruffalo. This was a pretty good movie. Joaquin plays a dad of two when his oldest son is killed by a hit and run driver. Mark Ruffalo is a lawyer and the driver of the hit and run vehicle. This movie tells you up front who's who and who did what, but watching how it all unfolds is suspenseful.

Been reading/watching the news a lot lately. Now I will not say I am a true Republican or a true Democrat, because I am neither. Nor am I one of these people that follow politics with a fine comb. As I talk about political people with some friends, they go real in depth on things I didn't know or just don't care to.

To the point. I am for McCain. No, I'm not prejudice, nor is it because he was a war hero/POW. I don't fall victim for the ads and slash campaigns that are aired on tv and radio and across the internet. I just look at subtle signs. One thing that peeved me today is Obama going overseas. His overseas trip was to look in on Iraq and Afghanistan. What does he do? He sees the brass, high American officers at the base, but does not talk to the soldiers. He then continues to Europe to campaign? I thought he was running for President, not World leader. McCain at least talks to the soldiers. It's like going to a major corporation to hear pros and cons of what is happening and talking to the CEO. He's only going to tell you what he thinks you want to hear, not what is really going on.

Anyways, I could go on and on with that. People will vote for who they want and I am not here to persuade them, but let them know when things are not going the way as promised, they saw it coming.

Where is my money?

That is what I am asking. Usually I can see what I am getting paid online a week and a half before payday. Here it is a week before and I still don't see it, not to mention my bonus that I should be getting this month. It is just more stressful waiting until the next day, check it first thing in the morning, and it's not there. Come on, like I don't have bills to pay? Give me my money!!

So, the other day I took the family to see WALL*E. It was actually better than I thought it would be. Not as much dialogue as most movies, but enough to understand the movie and what was going on. Last night I watched VINCE VAUGHN'S WILD WEST SHOW. I was expecting it to be more like or similar to BLUE COLLAR COMEDY, but it wasn't. I was disappointed the first 20 minutes of it because I was expecting it to be similar. Afterwards, it was actually pretty good. They did show bits and pieces/segments of acts during the 30 night/30 show program, but a majority of it was what happened along the way, behind the scenes. This tour actually took place in September 2005 while I was deployed to Iraq and during Hurricane Katrina. I think most people who like comedy will enjoy it.

I also saw 21 last night. That is the one with Kevin Spacey and Jim Sturgess (from ACROSS THE UNIVERSE). It is about a teacher from MIT teaching students how to count cards to win in Vegas. This was actually a really good movie with hardly in slow parts. It is based on true events. It is pretty good.

I also have and will probably watch tonight, RESRVATION ROAD. It has Joaquin Phoenix in it and someone else, but I mainly got it because Joaquin rocks. We'll see.

Moving continues

Well, yesterday after work we began moving the necessities over and stayed in the new house last night. I went out to smoke a cigarette last night and it was extremely quiet. Well, it was after 10pm also. We'll see this weekend as tonight is friday night and see how it goes. I will be going to the "old place" tomorrow to move some more things.

This past Monday, I blew a tire in the morning and then a belt broke. So the $200 plus I spent on the repairs was the money I was using for a U-haul. So now I have to wait until I can come up with some more money so I can move. Hopefully it will be soon. Real soon.

I plan to be completely moved by no later than August 2nd. Then I have to wait until the end of August to get a chunk of money that is coming to me so I can buy furniture. After that, I guess I will start inviting family out to see. It looks empty still, but of course it was mainly food, blankets, pillows, and clothes we brought with us.

Probably won't post again until next week. Tuesday more movies come out, so maybe another review on Wednesday or Thursday.

Another day after the last one

As I sat here and read my past postings, I realized, my life is better now. I don't have the stress of management looking over my shoulders and asking me to do things over my payscale, don't have to deal with stupid and irate customers, and don't have to live off of peanuts for pay. Since quitting that job in December compared to know, I am making 2 1/2 times as much. I am moving from a 2 bedroom apartment into a 4 bedroom house for the same monthly payment. Closer to work, so less to spend on gas. Recent promotion and more pay. And I sit at a desk now. The only difference is I will actually need to work out since I sit behind a desk and not running all over a store for 8 hours a day.

I saw SHUTTER last night. It was ok. Kind of reminded me a little bit of THE GRUDGE. Guess I will have to wait until Tuesday for some more new releases. I think 21 comes out.

Well, I will be moving for the next two weeks and we will see how things go. I am moving further away from my family, but also further away from the in-laws. Not like it is a state away or anything, but far enough away that nobody just "drops" by.

Until next time.

Another day

Just another day, another part of life. Last night I watched MAMA'S BOY with John Hader, Anna Farris, Diane Keaton, and Jeff Daniels. Some funny parts, but not worth it. I also watched THE BANK JOB with Jason Statham. It is based on a true story that took place in London in the 1970's. It was pretty good. Enough action and suspense throughout. Tonight, I will be watching SHUTTER, a new horror flick that came out on DVD starring Joshua Jackson.

Still preparing for the move. My car broke down on me Monday which used the money I was saving for the moving truck to fix it. So I am waiting until more money comes in right now. Nothing else real exciting lately. Just constantly driving 120 miles a day to get back and forth to work. I am usually tired when I get home and just veg out in front of the tv.

That wraps it up for today.

Ready to move

Well, I am scheduled to get the keys to the house on Tuesday and have to make the rest of the deposits for the rent, SRP, cable, phone, etc. Damn, this is expensive. I make $3000 more a month than I used to and I am still scraping by. But at least all my bills are caught up now. Can't wait until the end of August when I come in to more money. I move a week from tomorrow and then I start getting the kids enrolled in their school. Maybe I can get my youngest in preschool this year. Things are starting to finally come together and are looking up, but it will be a couple of months before I see it leveling out. No movies since earlier this week, just been lounging around at home watching COPS and Speeders. Finally got some good rain last night and we are expecting rain until Sunday. Try to post again next week.

Yes, it has been awhile

Hmm, I posted a few days ago and do not see it here. Must be lost in blogland. I watched 4 movies last night. Superheroes movie-a spoof on superheroes, mostly Spiderman, some X-men. Ok if you like spoofs and have seen the movies they make fun of, otherwise, not a good movie to see. Next was CHAOS THEORY with Ryan Reynolds. Starts off kind of slow, but I thought it was a good movie. I give it 4 out of 5. If you watch it, remember, it was the woman that started the mess. Next was THE RUINS. A new Horror movie, if that's what you want to call it. Not really a B-rated, I did like some parts and did actually cringe at one point of the movie. I like to watch horror movies to see if they can get to me, but this is one that made me cringe in a long time. 3.5 out of 5. Lastly, I watched the new release STOP-LOSS. Great military movie starring Ryan Phillipe and Tatum Channing. It is realistic and had a lot of controversy when it came out do to the facts. 5 out of 5. Be prepared for Tatum Channing's new film next year in GI JOE starring as Duke. Also in that movie, Dennis Quaid as General Hawk. Coming out in 2009.

Also one movie I have watched in the past year that still stands out in my mind that also stars Ryan Reynolds is SCHOOL OF LIFE. It is a drama and definately worth watching. It is one movie I will watch over and over.

I do watch a lot of movies and may post reviews on here as I see them if they are worth mentioning. Seeing as how nothing else really goes on in my life. I am not here to exploit my family life. I did recently get promoted in the military and am now an E-7, which is Sergeant First Class. My full time position is a unit administrator for my unit.

Until Next time.

Long time no post

Yes, I know it has been awhile since my last post. So what have I been doing? As if anyone reads this. Well, I did not go Active Duty, I actually am taking a civilian position with the military which will be better in the long run anyways, so I am still surviving. I am preparing to move from west of Phoenix to East of Phoenix hopefully within the next 30 days. Been trying to catch up on a lot of bills and I am beginning to see the light again. I will try to continue posting at least once a week, but we shall see how things go. Until the next one.
